Revelations

Haniel came home to the inn. And Dido told him that she was carrying his child. She told him that she had made love to him while he had been asleep, and that she taken his seed. And he was devasted. He could not believe his ears. And Dido cried, for she had hope that this would be happy news for him. She had longed for such a long time for a child. But Haniel told her then: "It is not an ordinary child that you carry. It is a nephilim. One of the Giant Race. One of the faceless fears. Those whose hunger cannot be stilled. I am an Angel, he told her. One of the very Arch Angels of Jehovah God. And when Angels mate with humans, they breed only nephilims." But Dido would not believe him. "You are no Angel, she told him. You have no wings. You cannot fly. A beautiful and wise man, but a man nonetheless." And Haniel realized that it is not easy for the human mind to believe in what is mysterious, and in that which cannot be seen with the naked eye. But he showed her then to her eyes. Before her eyes he made light with his bare hands. And he lit the fireplace with his gaze only. And he soared above the floor in the air. And then Dido did not doubt anymore. He was truly an Angel. And Haniel made up his mind then. He realized that even if the most rational thing to do might have been to take the life of the child, he could not. And neither could he ask that of Dido. For all Life was sacred. Even the life of a monster. It was the Heavenly Law of Life - the Eternal Truth. And he knew that Dido would need him by her side now. And so he promised her then, that he would always stay there by her side, and that they togehter would raise their child, and that they together might change its destiny. But he also knew now that he could not keep anymore secrets from her. That it was not right. And so he told her at last, that it was to Ashima that his heart belonged. That she was the woman that he loved, and that never more would he share Dido's bed, and that she was free to take any new lover that she wanted, whenever she wanted to. But that he always would stay there by her side and with their child. And Dido answered him then, that she already had known for a long time that it was with Ashima that Haniel's heart belonged.
